Detail of the memorial archway in Sun Yat-San Universiy, Guangzhou #292175632
Description
The memorial archway was built in the eighth year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty (1635) to honor seven Jinshi in Guangdong during the Tianqi period, namely Liang Shiji, Li Sijue, Luo Yiru, Wu Yuanhan, Cen Zhibao, Yin Mingyi and Gao Kui. The memorial archway was originally located at the Four Arches in Guangzhou. In the 1940s, the Guangzhou Municipal Government wanted to widen the road and move the five memorial archway on the road to the scenic spot. Lingnan University led the relocation of the memorial archway of Japanese Ugly Scholars. Originally standing on the west side of the Grand Bell Tower (now known as the Grand Bell Tower), it later collapsed. In 1999, the school re established the memorial archway in the middle of the campus.
